1-Wire

1-Wire (abbreviated to 1W or OW), is a communication bus system designed for low-speed data transmission, signalling and power through a single wire.

To improve reliability, Unipi 1-Wire devices are designed for the best possible seriality and stability. This is achieved by using four conductors (GND, VCC, DATA-IN, DATA-OUT) - this arrangement is used for 8-port hubs, 1-Wire temperature sensors and other products from the Unipi 1W product range

Unipi 1-Wire sensors

  • the most inexpensive variant of 1W temperature sensor
  • digital waterproof sensor based on the DS18B20 chip
  • Rozměry kovového části čidla jsou 6x30mm */
  • suitable for temperature measurements in range of -10°C/+85°C (from -55°C up to +125°C with reduced accuracy)
  • compatible with all Unipi 1-Wire devices → 4-wire connection
  • easy connection to Unipi controllers using an RJ45 connector with a suitable reduction or splitter
  • more info and tips regarding sensor connection are available in the 1-Wire article

Examples of use:

  • measuring indoor or outdoor temperature for the purpose of heating regulation
  • measuring temperature of liquids stored in tanks (several sensors can be placed on various levels to improve the accuracy)
  • measuring temperature of liquids in pipes

Possible applications:

  • all Unipi PLCs with 1-Wire bus, including Unipi 1.1/1.1 Lite
  • the Unipi Extension xG18 module
  • the Unipi 8-port hub or the 2-port splitter

If you want to connect the temperature sensor directly to Neuron or Axon controllers, you can do so by cutting off the connector and connecting the sensor directly to the PLC's 1-Wire terminal. Older variants of Unipi Neuron and Axon controllers, as well as Unipi 1.1/1.1 Lite, support a direct connection as they feature an RJ45 port. Further info is available in the 1-Wire bus and 1-Wire sensor connection article.

1W-T-IB on-wall sensor

  • variant of the 1W on-wall temperature sensor
  • an interior 1W sensor based on the DS18B20 chip
  • suitable for measurements in range of -10°C/+85°C
  • compatible with all Unipi 1W devices → 4-wire connection
  • easy connection to Unipi PLCs
  • possible connection through RJ45 connector via a suitable splitter/hub
  • additional info and tips for the sensor and its connection available in the 1-Wire article

Examples of use:

  • measuring indoor temperature for the purpose of control and regulation of heating, air conditioning, ventilation or heat recovery

Possible applications:

  • all Unipi PLCs with 1W bus including Unipi 1.1/Lite
  • Unipi Extension xG18 (with RJ45 connection)
  • Unipi 1-Wire hubs or splitters (with RJ45 connection)

The on-wall sensor can be connected directly to the 1W terminal on Axon or Neuron controllers. Alternatively, you can use a suitable hub or splitter (requires adding RJ45 connector to the sensor's cable); this option allows for connecting multiple sensors to a single PLC. RJ45 connector can be also used to connect the sensor to older Unipi Neuron or Axon controllers, or to Unipi 1.1/1.1 Lite. Further info is available in the 1-Wire article.

1W-T-IB2 on-wall sensor

  • redesign of the 1W on-wall temperature sensor

  • possible connection through RJ45 connector via a suitable splitter/hub
  • additional info and tips for the sensor and its connection available in the 1-Wire article
