Startup modes

Edge

It is possible to start the Unipi Edge in different modes. In normal circumstances the device starts in regular mode.

Regular mode

The regular mode of the device's startup. The device enters this mode several seconds after plugging in the power supply. The mode is physically indicated by PWR LED continuous emitting and ACT LED emitting with short flashes.

Service mode

This mode serves for uploading or backing up the operating system, or for restoring access to the unit. The service web interface is available in this mode, all remaining unit functions are disabled. This mode does not publish mDNS record.

Using the service interface, is is possible to flash OS via USB flashdisk or flash OS from the service web interface.

Initialization mode

This special mode can be used to restore the device in cases such as: boot sector corruption, or flash of another OS than Unipi. This mode allows direct access to the eMMC storage via the USB-C INIT connector. On Edge variants without USB A ports, it can used to flash/backup the OS image.
