Note:
This article refers only to Unipi Edge units equipped with USB A ports.

The tables below provide information on what USB ports are available and how they are mapped into Linux ports.

USB converters (FTDI, CH34x, PLxxxx and CPxxxx) are also supported by default. For using other gateways or devices, installation of drivers is necessary.

USB1 /dev/serial/by-port/0
USB2 /dev/serial/by-port/1
Port type A
Version 2.0
Current (max.) 500 mA

(!)

Note:
The USB-A ports have a shared HUB controller with 100 Mbps Ethernet and LTE modem, see block diagram.
Maximum current from a single USB is 500 mA, in case of overload the power supply is cut off.

(!)

Attention:
Do not connect externally powered USB hubs or similar devices. These devices can cause problems and potentially damage the Unipi Edge after rebooting.
If you use an externally powered USB hub make sure to cut the hub's power at the same time as rebooting Unipi Edge.
